Another exoplanet whose transit I was fortunate to observe last night. It is Qatar-2 b, a hot Jupiter completing an orbit around its star, which is 0.75 times the size of our Sun, in 1.33 Earth days. This planet is slightly larger than Jupiter but has 2.5 times its mass.
The star's radial-velocity data show that the planetary system has at least one other component, with an orbital period of one year and a mass several times greater than Jupiter's.
