Another exoplanet observed last night. This time it is a very special exoplanet: it orbits a double star whose components are not only a visual pair but are also thought to be physically associated.
The system's secondary star is two magnitudes fainter, and the stars are separated by only 3 arcseconds. The measurement therefore covers the entire system, since my equipment cannot separate the two components.
The planet completes an orbit in just 1.3 days and is slightly larger than Jupiter, making it a hot Jupiter.
