Another exoplanet transit observed last weekend. This one is slightly more difficult because the star is no brighter than magnitude 14.1.
It is a gas giant of the type known as a hot Jupiter. Its orbital period is slightly less than a day and a half: a year on Kepler-17b is equivalent to 1.485 Earth days. This planetary system is more than 2,600 light-years from our planet.
